"S U M M E R pause, golden light, distant archives at Munich Residenz⁠

Every summer I try to step away from social media for at least a week. A pause that allows room to breathe, to take stock, to look back before moving forward. With a new journey ahead, I return to my archives, diving beyond the past two years to study what light I’d like to capture again, which compositions to revisit, and what kind of places might inspire me next.⁠
⁠
Three years ago today, the trail leads me south, to Bavaria. More precisely, to Munich’s Residenz, once the seat of the Wittelsbach rulers. Among its treasures, the Green Gallery stands out, an opulent corridor lined with gilded stucco frames, emerald damask walls, and a celebrated collection of Old Masters. The air itself seemed steeped in history, echoing with centuries of ceremony.⁠
⁠
I remember stepping into the “Rich Rooms,” where mirrors, chandeliers, and intricate parquet floors caught the golden August light at midday. That light was almost tangible, pouring through tall windows, warming the deep greens and burnished golds until they glowed.⁠

These moments remind me why archives matter: they are not simply records, but maps of the beauty we wish to find again. See you again in posts and reels in a few weeks, with the occasional story to interrupt the silence, of course"⁠

"Here are some of my favorite photos of the Courances estate, in Essonne. It's a place where greenery is everywhere, where the fresh air is really felt, away from the bustle of the city. Feeling peaceful, almost like hanging out of time. The castle wasn't open for visits, but the small gardens, in particular the Japanese garden, are really worth the trip. Can't wait to go back to explore the interior, especially since people are said to still live there, which makes it even more intriguing". ⁠
