A beautifully crafted early 20th-century Spanish Fratino console/refectory table. Constructed from European oak, the table features a generous plank top with a beautifully aged patina with a later bleached and white wash finish that highlights the natural grain. The substantial top is supported by distinctive Baroque-inspired lyre-shaped trestle legs, reinforced by a hand-forged wrought iron fiador stretcher. Featuring elegant twists, S-scrolls, and volute ends, the ironwork provides exceptional stability while creating a striking contrast with the timber. A hallmark of traditional Spanish furniture, the Fratino table is renowned for its robust construction, sculptural trestle base, and decorative wrought iron stretcher, reflecting the craftsmanship of Spanish cabinetmakers and blacksmiths. Perfect as a console table, writing desk, or behind a sofa, this versatile piece complements both traditional and contemporary interiors, bringing warmth, texture, history, and understated European charm. Some wear commensurate with age particularly on the feet. We have put a reinforcing piece of wood underneath one side of the underneath to keep the top table plank flat. Photographed alongside Antique French oak and opaline clock face from Rouen c.1880
