This collection includes a child’s drum dating from the late 19th century. The drum is crafted from wood and has been made just the same way as a military drum. It features a painted design that incorporates a coat of arms, and represents a type of toy that was popular with children during that period. Accompanying the drum are a pair of drumsticks, a cymbal, and a triangle—each a small percussion instrument. Also included is a sepia cabinet card photograph depicting a young boy dressed in a military-style uniform and holding a similar drum. This style of photograph was common in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
