“Buste de jeune fille” sculpture in white marble, signed MADRASSI (1848-1919). Italian born French artist Luca Madrassi began his artistic studies in Rome before studying at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris under Pierre-Jules Cavelier. He exhibited at the ‘Salon de la Societe des Artistes Francais from 1879 where he, over the years won many honourable mentions and a third class medal in 1896.
