Pair of antique Limoges Porcelain Amphora-shaped hand-painted vases circa 1910 – 1920. These vases are often referred to as muscle vases. One bears the decorators signature WG for (Wilhelm Guérin & Co 1900 – 1932). Wilhelm Guérin (1838-1912) was born near Limoges and was trained in porcelain techniques. The other bears the decorators signature JP for Jean Pouyat. Bother bear the impressed 56 mark.Jean Pouyat worked at his Limoges factory from 1842 until his death in 1849. His business was then passed to his sons, who continued to run it. The company later merged with William Guerin and Co. in 1911, with the Pouyat marks being used until 1932. The vases can be purchased separately.
