An impressionistic oil painting of daisies in a vase signed by the Belgian artist, Sim Liénard. It is framed in a complimentary highly prized Montparnasse frame and a linen mount. Simone Liénard studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels . She was a pupil of Van Haelen, Alfred Bastien and Henri Logelain . A painter of flowers, still lifes and portraits, she is best known for her views of the Entre-Sambre-et-Meuse , the Ardennes, Brittany and Italy.She won the Yser Prize in 1957. The Yser Prize was founded in 1920 by Servais Detilleux within the Society of French Artists and annually rewards a French or Belgian painter or sculptor. The same year, she received the first silver medal at the Salon des Artistes Français in Paris. The following year, at the same salon, she was awarded the Gold Medal. In 1963, she was a finalist for the Grand Prix at the Pont-Aven International Festival.
