A bronzed spelter figural sculpture of a muscular athlete throwing a discus standing on a naturalistic base. c.1900 The base plaque reads: ATHLETE Par E. Legrand (G d Prix de Rome). Ernest Legrand (1872 – 1912 ) was a French School sculptor and painter and a member of the Beaux-Arts de Paris. He won several national and international prizes like Prix de Rome (1900).
