An extremely lifelike mid-century bronze dog sculpture after PJ MENE “Lévrier” (greyhound) mounted on a black and white veined marble base. Pierre-Jules Mêne (1810-1879) was a prominent French sculptor known for his naturalistic representations of animals, particularly horses and dogs. He is considered one of the pioneers of the “animalier” school of sculpture in the 19th century.
