This is wonderful rare French antique Bazar De Voyage domed trunk from the by gone days of steam trains and streamer ships. Le Bazar du Voyage, established in 1843 in Paris, once made some of the finest trunks in the world and is famed for being the oldest malletier in France. A Malletier was a maker of luggage, trunks and suitcases.
The trunk is made of oil cloth and leather with ornate metalwork overlay and an off white linen interior complete with large trademark logo. It has solid brass double lock hardware (sadly no longer working) and one leather handle has a half missing. Opening the lid the you’ll find a lift out tray with various smaller drawers for storing your treasures. This would make a wonderful shop prop or sit well at the end of the bed or a lounge room. The ends of the trunk has low-profile wheels to aid mobility.
