💡In 1887, the Eiffel Tower was not yet finished, but it already had its red color which it will keep until 1906. The Moulin Rouge was the first Parisian building to use electricity because it needed a sign that could be seen from far away all night long. The Place and the Pont Saint Michel have not changed since 1900, unlike Notre-Dame which has lost its spire for a few years. It will be rebuilt identically in a few years. The Statue of Liberty, a gift from France to the United States, already looked great in its Parisian construction workshop in 1884, two years before its inauguration in New York" via @paris.explore⁠

Nowadays, Villa Balbiano is the largest private residence on the lake, with extensive sumptuous garden, outdoor swimming pool, a private pier and a boathouse. Inside, its historic interiors have been filled with finest objets d’art and furniture of past centuries. C R U M B L I N G chapel - "La Chapelle de L’ange au Violon is located in the south of France. This dilapidated family chapel lies within the grounds of a house; the house itself is inhabited. Both the house and surrounding grounds are well-kept, immaculate in fact.⁠
⁠
The name translates to “The Chapel of the Angel with the Violin. This is because violin-playing stone angels decorate the columns of the sanctuary. The tall vaulted Gothic ceiling is collapsing. Most of the stained glass windows lay empty, the glass naturally dislodging as the decades progressed. The large and beautiful stained-glass rose window, which sits above the entrance, is remarkably well-preserved". ⁠

O N E of the biggest palace carpets you will ever see is at Palacio Real De Madrid. Did you know that one of the largest carpets in the Royal palace of Madrid is the Throne Room one? It occupies the entire floor of the space, including the window niches, and it has an invisible trick: it is made in multiple parts that can be sewn together as needed, and thanks to this, its maintenance and installation are easier. The history of such an important piece dates back to the reign of Ferdinand VII, when he commissioned it from the Royal Tapestry Factory (@realfabricatapices) in the 19th century. ⁠

The monarch’s contribution was the introduction of the empire style in an eminently rococo living room; past and present intertwined perfectly in this palace-museum, don’t you think?⁠
