This Hollywood Regency style coffee table has a striking sculptural gilt metal base topped with an oval glass top. It is by the German furniture designer Hans Kögl ,made in Germany and dating from the 1970’s. The base is designed like a big bouquet, with detailed leaves and blooming roses finished in a rich gold tone. The metal curves outward into long, flowing legs that give it a really elegant, almost floating look. The clear glass top lets you fully see and enjoy all that intricate floral detail underneath, which is exactly what makes this table such a statement. It’s got that perfect 1960s–70s Regency vibe — dramatic, decorative, and a little bit over-the-top in the best way. A standout piece that adds instant vintage glamour to both modern and more traditional spaces. Kögl drew frequently on natural forms such as wheat sheafs, florentine flowers and wisteria in designing sculptural lighting fixtures, tables and various decorative objects. His better known work was manufactured in Germany and Italy during the 1970s and 1980s, although some pieces date back to the 1950s. Kögl worked as a designer for Maison Jansen in its later years.
