An exceptional and rare French solid brass casting mid-century Cobra table lamp attributed to Maison Jansen, Paris, from the 1970’s. This unique vintage sculptural table lamp, depicting a seated cobra, reflects the style of signed 1970s Italian ceramic designs by Tommaso Barbi himself inspired by Edgar Brandt’s iconic bronze snake lamp from the 1930s. The lamp features a finely detailed solid brass casting and a brass telescopic rod supporting its original shade which does require replacement. The lamp has been re wired to NZ standards including an inline switch. Maison Jansen was a French interior design and decoration firm that was founded in Paris in 1880 by Jean-Henri Jansen. The company quickly established itself as one of the leading design firms in France, known for its luxurious and eclectic style that combined elements of different historical periods and design styles.
