An original framed colour engraving by E. Muller, titled “Vase Fleuri” (Flowered Vase), printed in 1872 by Lemercier & Cie. This charming 19th-century still life depicts a classical urn overflowing with flowers and foliage, accompanied by a delicately rendered bird study—an appealing detail that reflects Muller’s decorative and naturalistic style. The composition balances botanical richness with refined elegance, typical of French engravings of the period. The mirror plate is original, showing gentle age-related rippling to the glass, and is housed within an antique gilded frame that complements the period character of the piece. Lemercier & Cie was a prominent Parisian printing house founded by Joseph Rose Lemercier (1803–1887). Renowned for their expertise in lithography—and later photogravure—the firm collaborated with many leading 19th-century artists, producing high-quality prints celebrated for their clarity and craftsmanship.
