A set of six coloured cut to clear crystal wine hock glasses manufactured by the Gräflich Schaffgotsch’sche Josephinenhütte, Schreiberhau, Silesia, Poland. Silesia was part of Germany when the goblet was produced around 1930. The design is attributed to Siegfried Haertel.
Founded in 1842 by Count Leopold von Schaffgotsch, the Gräflich Schaffgotsch’sche Josephinenhütte (Josephine Glassworks) became one of the most prestigious luxury glassmakers of the 19th century. Located in Schreiberhau, Silesia (now Szklarska Poręba, Poland), the factory earned an international reputation for producing exceptional lead crystal. Its finely engraved pieces, richly coloured cut-to-clear glass, and innovative designs reflected the highest standards of Central European glassmaking. Throughout the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Josephinenhütte was celebrated for its craftsmanship, creating works that ranged from elegant Art Nouveau designs to sophisticated Art Deco creations.
