Boxed collection of steel Lyonnais Boules c.1840
Pétanque is a form of boules where the goal is to throw small steel balls as close as possible to a small wooden ball called a cochonnet (literally “piglet”) or jack, while standing inside a circle with both feet on the ground. The game is normally played on hard dirt or gravel. Originally the balls were made of wood, covered by nails with round domed heads like these antique examples.
Boxed collection of eight. I love them as a decorative table accent in a big earthenware vessel and of course to play petanque/boules.
