A beautifully displayed case of leaf butterflies (Kallima inachus)

A beautifully display case of leaf butterflies (Kallima inachus). This kaleidoscope of butterflies are the true masters of camouflage, found in Asia, from India to Japan.

This is just one display from a large private Lepidoptera collection, check the website for more!

These butterflies have wings shaped like a leaf when in the closed position with only the cryptic underside markings visible. But when open, the fore-wing exhibits a black apex, an orange band and a deep blue base with two white oculi. (a round or eye-like opening or design).

Check out the last image to see their colouration when their wings are in the open position! Camouflage masters!
